We are a multidisciplinary artistic collective dedicated to bringing creativity closer to the people. United by a shared passion for expression and community, our members come from diverse artistic backgrounds — painters, writers, graphic designers, actors, clowns, and puppeteers — each bringing their unique voice and practice into the collective space.
Our mission is to make art accessible, participatory, and present in everyday life. Through workshops, performances, and collaborative projects, we create spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can explore their own creativity. Whether in public spaces, schools, cultural centers, or unexpected corners of the city, we aim to blur the lines between artist and audience.
Maxei started as a theatre and clown collective in Queretaro city, Mexico in 2020. Maxei is the word in hña-hñu (Otomi) for "The place where ball game is played", which at the same is another indigenous name for "Queretaro". In 2022 the collective moved to Tkaronto, where in addition to theatre and clown, we also offer artistic and cultural workshops, as well as personalized, handmade products made by the members of our collective.
